Miss Tanya

Miss Tanya has been studying the art of dance since the age of three at various studios in the Massachusetts area. She has trained with some of the most prestigious teachers including the late Frank Hatchet and Gregory Hines, Bob Rizzo, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Brian Friedman, Dave Scott, Chris Judd, Laurie Ann Gibson and Tabitha & Napoleon. She is a member and graduate of Dancers Masters of America 4 year Teacher Training School at the University of Buffalo NY and continues to further her education by attending workshops including Broadway Dance Center Teacher Training in New York City, The Pulse in Atlantic City and Boston Mass. And Monsters Of Hip Hop. This allows her to bring new and exciting choreography and the latest dance craze to further educate your children. Miss Tanya has performed and competed in Las Vegas, Bermuda, New York City, Orlando Florida and on the Norwegian Majesty Cruise Ship. She is Lead Instructor and Artist Director of her award winning competition teams that have won many special judges awards, high scores of the day, solo Titleist and Choreographer awards. Miss Tanya Miss Tanya has received numerous prestigious awards including ADA Diamond Choreography, Dance Explosion Excalibur Award, Beyond The Stars Stellar Award, In10sity Challenge 1st Place Over-All Award and many more. She continually works hard to develop technically trained dancers that have been accepted into many prestigious dance programs. Miss Tanya also choreographed the National Competition dance for the UMass Amherst Dance Team. In 2014 her competition team travelled to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida to perform at the Premiere Theatre in Hollywood Studios and dance in the parade at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. This past July Miss Tanya travelled to Atlantic City with her competition team to compete their love for dance at a National level. There were 42 dance studios from all over the country and 1037 routines performed during the week. Miss Tanya is proud to announce that her team are the 2016 Beyond The Stars National Champions winning the highest award of the entire competition the “Stellar Award”.

Miss Tammy

Tammy has been involved with the art of dance for more than 30 years with her daughter Tanya. She had been the Director of Dance at a successful studio in Massachusettsfir five years  and had decided it was time to venture out on her own with her daughter by her side and they are now entering their Tenth season. She is the business mind behind the scenes and coordinator of class schedules and events. Tammy is proud to offer you the most qualified instructors at Miss Tanya’s School of Dance.

Miss Kiera

Miss Kiera has been apart of the wonderful world of dance since the age of 3. She trained at Helene Joy School of Dance under the instruction of Patricia Lerman and Helene Chapman where she studied in Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Tap. In May of 2014 she graduated from Fitchburg State University with her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Biology. Now being done with school she is excited to just focus on doing what she loves, teaching dance. Kiera has taught classes at several studios in the North Shore along with starting and choreographing for the Beverly High School Dance Team. She also choreographed and danced for the Fitchburg State University Dance Team. She has been competing in regional and national dance competitions since she was eight years old. She has attended many dance conventions and has taken classes with Phunk Phenomenon, Brian Friedman, Tamara Squires, and Sarah Jo Fazio along with many others. Kiera’s passion for dance continues to grow each and everyday. She continues to further her education by attending workshops such as Shock, Nuvo and Monsters of Hip Hop. Her award winning competition teams have won many high scores and several special judges awards. She is proud to be along side such a talented staff here at Miss Tanya’s School of Dance.

Miss Kastiana

Kastiana Alicea left us as a graduating senior but now as an MTSD alum she returns this upcoming season as a faculty member! We are so excited to have her now join us as faculty as she has been training towards being a dance teacher. You’ve seen her, you’ve loved her, you can’t stop watching her and now she’s passing on her undeniable talent to our up and coming dancers. So please help us welcome Miss Kas!

Mr. Joel

“Mr. Joel” has a multi-faceted background which includes dance, musicals, plays, movies, modeling and radio. Proving the adage “you’re never too old to dance”, Joel started studying at 17 years old. He has never been the same! Since his humble beginnings, Joel has performed with and choreographed for many regional theatre companies. In March 2011, Joel choreographed Fiddler on the Roof at Barre Players and in March 2012, he choreographed The Full Monty for them as well. Some of his favorite performances include George M! (playing George) and West Side Story (choreography). Another favorite was performing in a touring production of The Nutcracker. Over the years, Joel has worked or studied with many great teachers including; Sabina Copilu, Jason Samuels-Smith, Robin Dunn, Frank Hatchett, Sheila Barker and Crystal Chapman, just to name a few.

In the past, Joel has also worked as a private ballet coach, choreographed for a competitive body builder, coached pageant contestants and he has won rave reviews for his hair, make-up and costume designs for many theatrical productions. Joel continues to teach dance workshops in many different styles, has worked at Cushing Academy and St. Mark’s School teaching dance to students from all over the world and spent two years on staff at North Andover School of Dance. In 2012, Mr. Joel directed the ballet “Hansel and Gretel”. Mr Joel took his love and knowledge of the theater and created Vanilla Box Productions. Vanilla Box has a camp wear young performers can learn or fine tune their musical theater skills. We are very happy to have him join our talented staff of instructors.

Ms. Brigid

Miss Brigid began dancing at the age of three with The Dance Center, currently located in Winchendon, MA. During her time there she studied Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern. At the age of fourteen, she transferred to Miss Tanya’s School of Dance. Miss Brigid added Hip Hop and Contemporary to her dance repertoire and was also a member of the Senior and Hip Hop competitive teams. This experience allowed her to attend many regional events throughout her four years including ADA Nationals. Miss Brigid participated in many dance conventions, such as Shock and Monsters of Hip Hop which challenged her ability and increased her dance knowledge. She continued her passion for dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst by auditioning and earning a spot on the UMass Dance Team. In her sophomore year, she was elected to be one of the captains and was responsible for running this self-sufficient student organization. As a member and a captain, she performed for large crowds at football and basketball games, however, the highlight of the season was traveling to Daytona, FL for a national event hosted by the National Dance Association. Miss Brigid continued her education by taking Ballet classes at UMass, as well as Mount Holyoke College. She is extremely excited to be working with Miss Tanya’s School of Dance and hopes to share her knowledge and passion for dance with her students.

Miss Julia

Julia Arden Pochini started her dance education at the age of 3 at a local studio in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. By the age of 6, Julia was studying ballet, jazz and tap and began competing nationally, winning multiple 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for solos and received many scholarships to national workshops. In 2003 Julia advanced her development in ballet by studying with The Boston Ballet in Newtonville, Massachuesetts. In 2008 she was a student at the Acton School of Ballet in Acton, Massachusetts. Ms. Pochini has taken multiple classes from Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Chris Judd, Laurieann Gibson and Dave Scott, all from “So You Think You Can Dance,” and has taken a class with Victor Smalley from “Dance Moms Miami.” Julia loves all genres of dance including jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, pointe and lyrical. Julia has continued her dance education and substituted at Miss Tanya’s School of Dance in Fitchburg, Massachusetts as well as teaching at a couple other studios in the local area. In 2012, Julia performed hip-hop as a back-up dancer for pop hits singer and songwriter of Boston, Massachusetts, Melissa Jane. Currently, Julia is a member of Shadows Dance Art Experience professional dance company that rehearses in Worcester, Massachusetts. With them she is a Core Junior Company Member and Promotional Model Team Member. With Shadows, she has attended, worked and performed at numerous events such as “The Anarchist Society of Shakespeareans Dead Pony Party” roaring 20′s gala put together by 3 Rivers Arts. Also they were in charge and apart of a televised flash mob held at Union Station in Worcester, Massachusetts Julia also has hosted several master classes with Artistic Director, Alyssa Zak and Rehearsal Director Marcia Cloutier of Shadows Dance Art Experience. After the years of studying and performing dance, Miss Julia loves sharing her talent with students that are eager to learn.
